RSA, Addo

Addo Elephant National Park is a premier conservation area and a major tourism destination located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Established in 1931 to protect the region's last 11 remaining elephants, the park has been a remarkable success story in species preservation. It has since expanded significantly and now forms part of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park, which encompasses a vast and diverse range of biomes. The park is renowned for providing a sanctuary for over 600 elephants, offering visitors an exceptional opportunity to observe these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Beyond elephants, the park is home to the Big Seven, which includes the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino) as well as the southern right whale and great white shark found in its marine protected areas. Its diverse ecosystems also support a wide variety of other wildlife, including antelope species, zebra, hyena, and a rich birdlife. As a flagship national park managed by South African National Parks, it is dedicated to biodiversity conservation and provides world-class tourist facilities. These include guided game drives, self-drive routes, horse trails, and accommodation options, all designed to offer an immersive and educational experience in one of the country's most ecologically rich regions.
