The only Devils Museum in the world is located in Kaunas. The history of the museum began with the unusual hobby of the Lithuanian artist Antanas йдmujdzinavičius for collecting masks and figures depicting devils. The first imp was presented to the artist in 1906 by the Lithuanian writer Juozas Tumas, after which Antanas муmujdzinavicius decided to collect thirteen devils. The more people learned about the artist’s hobby, the more his collection became. As a result, instead of a damn dozen, the collection totaled 260 devils of various stripes and "nationalities." After the artist’s death in 1966, a memorial museum of Zhmuijinavičius was opened in the house in which he lived, which also presented a collection of evil spirits he had collected. But the collection was constantly growing, the devils continued to arrive - they were given by visitors to the museum, brought from different countries. The first gift to the museum was the Zemaiti devil with a natural hemp tail, then an ordinary visitor brought a sculpture "Archangel Michael, the conquering devil", then the museum was replenished with a folklore character of the Lithuanian people - Spieras. The Ukrainian Devil with cherry blossoms, the Moldovan Devil on a tobacco leaf, the Polish Devil-joker, all kinds of "devils", gobbers, kikimors and other evil spirits arrived at the museum. The collection has grown so much that in 1982 it was transferred from the Zhmuizinavichyus Memorial Museum to a separate three-story building, designed by architect Mazhejka. The memorial museum has only a personal collection of the artist. Currently, the collection includes more than three thousand copies of wooden, plastic, ceramic, knitted "local" devils and foreigners from Africa, Japan, France, Germany, Canada, Italy, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Mexico, Cuba.
