Arktikum Museum and Science Center

The Arktikum Center located in Rovaniemi is a unique indicator of the northern way of life, culture and history. This is a museum (Regional Museum of Lapland), a scientific center (Arctic Center), an architectural landmark, a popular cultural site and a building for congresses and conferences.
A new scientific exhibition of the Arctic Center - “Changing Arctic” - was opened to the public in April 2007. At the exhibition, guests can familiarize themselves with the ice cave, the Northern Lights Theater, the Arctic river, research stations and the cycle of the Arctic year.
The main exposition of the Regional Museum of Lapland - “Northern Crafts” - takes the visitor to the nature, culture and history of Rovaniemi, the Pere-Pojola region (a geographical area bounded by the Gulf of Bothnia, Salla and Kolari) and northern Lapland. At the exhibition you can enjoy the wooden buildings of the former town of Rovaniemi, get acquainted with the mystical sides of the bear and the moose, as well as the memories of Pechenga (Finnish. Petsamo).
