The Museum of Asia and the Pacific is located in Warsaw, within walking distance of the Old Town. The museum consists of two buildings - the South Pavilion and the Asian Gallery. Here are more than 25 thousand exhibits from Asia, Australia and Oceania. The museum was founded in 1973 by diplomat and sailor Andrzej Wawrzyinyak. He visited many eastern countries and collected a large collection of works of art and ethnographic material, which he presented to the state. After that, Andrzej became the life director and curator of the museum. At first, the museum collection consisted mainly of exhibits brought from the Indonesian islands and totaled about 4 thousand objects. The composition of the collection included theatrical masks, stone and wooden sculptures, dolls, fabrics, edged weapons. The museum collection is constantly updated with new purchases and gifts from Indonesia, China, Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Mongolia, Nepal, Tibet, Afghanistan and Australia. At present, the museum presents modern paintings, prints and drawings by artists from Asia, Australia and Polish artists.
