On the ground floor of the Norfolk Museum, in the building of the former port warehouse, items raised from the seabed after the tragic wreck of Her Majesty Queen Sirius’s ship in 1790 are presented. A vessel with a displacement of 540 tons was supposed to deliver prisoners from Sydney and a consignment of food to Norfolk, but it crashed on a coral reef off the coast of the island.
On the second floor there is an exposition related to the history of the so-called Third Settlement, when on June 8, 1856, 194 inhabitants of Pitcairn arrived on Norfolk aboard the ship Moryashire, including descendants of rebels from the Bounty ship and their Tahitian wives. Until now, many residents of the island have the names of the crew members of the vessel - Christian, McCoy, Quintal, Adams. Among the exhibits of this part of the museum are household items and culture of immigrants.
