Papalact Thermal Springs
Ecuador, Papallacta

At an altitude of 3300 meters above sea level, in the realm of dense forests, full-flowing rivers and Amazonian winds, majestic condors, cougars and spectacled bears, there are thermal springs of Papalact. Here, 67 km from Quito, in a valley between two volcanoes: Kayambé and Artisana, on the historical path of Francisco de Orellana, who crossed the Andes chain in 1542 in search of spices and gold, health, long-awaited rest and peace are found. Hot thermal waters without color, odor and with an extremely pleasant taste have not only a noticeable life-giving effect, but also a healing effect, due to their saturation with sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and other useful substances. The water temperature in the springs themselves reaches 70 ° C, but in special pools it drops to 36 - 42 ° C. Thanks to the inhalation of water vapor, its contact with the skin, and drinking, many diseases of the central nervous system are treated, chronic headaches pain, blood pressure stabilizes, digestion and respiratory processes improve. Bathing in springs can also be useful for people suffering from skin diseases, rheumatism, arthritis, helps with heart diseases and in the postoperative periods. Papalacta is a state-protected area (250 ha), on the territory of which there are two hotels: Jambiyacu and Fuentes de Juventud, and hot pools of various sizes, depths and temperatures. Guests of the resort can enjoy not only the rejuvenating effect of the springs, but also take horseback riding in the highlands of the Andes, breathe in the scent of adventure and black Ecuadorian nights.
