The event that shocked the world took place in July 1789, when the Liberty Bell rang from the Independence Hall tower, calling on citizens for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. The bell was donated to the city by the Pennsylvania State Administration. He was brought to Philadelphia on September 1, 1752, but due to the need for restoration, his discovery was delayed until March 1753. The cracked bell was repaired by two craftsmen, John Pass and John Stow, for all the work they received 36 pounds. The bell owes its name to the Speaker of the City Assembly, Isaac Norris. The motto was beaten out on the bell: "transmit and store." Currently, the ringing of the bell is heard only on holidays July 4, Independence Day.
