Zoo in Kathmandu

In 1932, the last prime minister, Juddha Sumsher JB Rana, opened at a private zoo in the city of Lalitpur, Nepal. It was the only zoo in the country. It was not opened to the public by the government of Nepal until 1956.
The central zoo covers an area of 6 acres. It is home to more than 870 animals, representing 10 species.
