Seaside Park (Boulevard)
Georgia, Batumi

The beauty of the magnificent seaside town of Batumi is its amazing seaside park, which the locals themselves call the boulevard. Over the entire long stretch of the sea, it lies in an absolutely green stripe along the entire northwestern part of the capital of Adjara. At the very beginning of the twentieth century, exactly at the place where we can now see the well-groomed boulevard, there was an unpleasant dump for city waste. Some time passed, and a truly fabulous hand safely built a stunning garden in a landfill. The very first project of the park was timely created by the famous German gardener Resler. But unfortunately, he did not live up to the practical implementation of his brilliant plan, but his noble work was successfully continued by the no less famous and talented gardener D'Alfons. The great Georgian gardener-decorator Iason Gordesiani, who successfully participated in the decoration of the London Botanical Garden, made a huge contribution to the improvement of the garden. Beloved by everyone, Batumi Boulevard has been fantastically rustling the needles and leaves of its giant inhabitants for more than a hundred years, elderly people have been walking daily in its spacious and exceptionally straight alleys for more than a century, restless children have been running around, young people have fun around the clock in its cozy bars and cafes. Almost at any time of the year, on the boulevard you can meet many vacationers who enjoy the southern velvet warmth and the fabulous beauty of nature. As soon as you approach the boulevard, you immediately feel the salty breath of the sea, organically blending with the extremely pleasant aroma of handsome pine trees. A truly mesmerizing spectacle opens before the shocked gaze of a visitor entering the park: three amazing fountains clearly lined up one after the other with music scattering their trickles merrily. Often, in the afternoon, the rays of the setting sun are refracted in the jets of the fountain, and then, a wonderful rainbow appears above the fountains. Since 2005, in the new, modern part of the boulevard, on Lake Ardagan, a completely new French dancing fountain has been operating - one of the most beautiful among the currently functioning in Europe. The colorful stream of water that fancifully draws patterns of amazing beauty daily in the night sky in clear unison with beautiful music makes the most lasting impression on the audience. In an attractive boulevard there are five exclusively parallel alleys, they are clearly separated from each other by picturesque lawns, original cafe-bars and bushes of bay leaves trimmed as squarely as possible. In 1934, a magnificent Greek colonnade was placed on the boulevard, which is its main attraction and, as it were, the stylized gates of the park. All conditions for modern recreation have been created in Batumi Boulevard: a lot of various attractions, equipped sports grounds, well-groomed restaurants, spacious bars and summer cafes, cool bungalows, youth discoclubs, stunning courts, where the women's tennis championship is held every year. It is cozy and especially quiet in the very first magnolia alley, where, in a wonderful pavilion, lovers of backgammon and chess gather. The unique microclimate of the expanding boulevard every year for a person produces a great healing and calming effect.
