Lance Martin is a small beach with access to the beach from the footpath opposite the Surfside Inn. The parking lot is on the side of the highway very close to the beach, where people then walk down the footpath to the shore. The beach consists of beautiful white powdery sand with a backdrop of almond and coconut trees. There are small mountain pools at both ends of the coast. During most of the year, this coast has moderate surf with a calm, westward drifting current. Lance Martin is sometimes used by surfers on weekends as the beach is very easy to access, just an hour's drive from Port of Spain. This beach usually doesn't have large crowds and thus surfers usually don't have the problem of swimmers getting in their way as they surf the wave.
