Fort Savannah La Mar
Jamaica, Savanna-la-Mar

At the very end of George the Great Street, behind the market, is an old city fort. At first glance, it seems that it is pretty well preserved - the wall looks intact. But as soon as you go through the arch, you will see the fort in all its glory. It is said that in 1755 Admiral Knowles visited Savannah-la-Mar. Inspecting the construction of the fort, he called it the worst of all that he had ever seen. But this did not stop the locals - they invested more than 16,000 pounds in it. True, they failed to finish it. Part of the constructed structure safely collapsed. Today, residents use it as a pool, swimming here in the afternoon and in the morning.
