Fort Charlotte
Jamaica, Lucea

Fort Charlotte was built by the British in 1761 on a small peninsula in the city of Lucea. It was named after the wife of King George III, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. In 1843, barracks were built at the fort, providing shelter for the soldiers who lived here. In 1862, the British gave the fort as a gift to Jamaica. For some time, various educational institutions were located here. The fort was never used as a defensive structure.
You can visit the fort from 7 am to 7 pm.
