The Copernicus Sky Planetarium is a museum where you can watch educational films of 2D and 3D on a spherical screen, during live shows see stars in the sky, and also listen to concerts and lectures. The planetarium is connected to the Copernicus Science Center by a corridor, guaranteeing convenient access. The Copernicus Sky Planetarium has been open since 2011. It has its own production studio, which creates a show on the screen in the form of a hemisphere. The planetarium is covered with a round dome. The interior features a projection hall with a spherical screen with a diameter of 16 meters, which hangs on giant chains above the audience. There are 137 comfortable armchairs in the hall, the arrangement of which allows viewers to conveniently look at the sky. The heart of the planetarium is a giant projector created exclusively for the Copernicus Science Center using Japanese technology. This is one of the most advanced projectors of this type in the world. There are 32 special lenses that reliably show stars. Each lens holds a plate with an image of a corresponding fragment of the sky. This modern system allows you to very accurately represent the night sky with stars. With a huge database of astronomical objects, their positions or properties, you can travel all over the solar system, observe spaceships, planets and their satellites at close range and travel to other planets and stars. All equipment in the system is equipped with remotely controlled live blinds with software that allows you to observe the starry sky not only in a specific place on earth, but also from anywhere in the world of the solar system. Thanks to modern multimedia technologies used in the Copernicus Sky Planetarium, visitors get the impression of immersion in the observed worlds, which is impossible to get in ordinary everyday life. Animals living in the depths of the ocean, microorganisms invisible to the naked eye, creatures that walked the earth millions of years ago - all of them suddenly appear at your fingertips. Planetarium Sky of Copernicus is one of the most modern planetariums in Europe, where you can watch films related to the sky and space, natural films and paintings on evolution. Together with the heroes of the films, you can go to conquer space, together with Darwin make a voyage to the Galapagos Islands, see the ocean floor or visit the Mayan pyramids and listen to their myths. Sessions that last about an hour, prepared using ground-based and satellite telescopes, are displayed on a spherical screen surrounding the auditorium from all sides. Thanks to a special optical projector, about 20 million stars appear in the sky, among which you can see, for example, the Milky Way. Planetarium Sky Copernicus is one of the most modern planetariums in Europe.
