Perdan Botanical Garden, formerly known as Lake Gardens, is located in Malaysia, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The park was founded in 1888, initially the green zone was created as a public recreation park, exotic and ornamental plants were planted on its territory, gardens were laid out, recreation areas with a large artificial lake, canals, waterfalls, flower beds, fountains and shady alleys were equipped. The residence of the British colonial government was built on one of the hills of the park, and the Royal Lake Club, which could be visited exclusively by members of the British colonial government, wealthy planters, merchants and officers, was built on the shore of the lake. Luxurious villas for the British elite began to be built near the park, and the Lake Gardens themselves turned into a favorite vacation spot for citizens. In 1975, the park was renamed to Perdana Lake Gardens, and in 2011 - to Perdana Botanical Garden - the city leisure park was transformed into a botanical garden. Perdana Botanical Garden covers an area of 91.6 hectares, which is divided into several thematic areas - exotic fruit trees garden, tropical garden, bonsai garden, medicinal plant garden, orchid garden, hibiscus garden, insect garden, deer park. During the flowering period of orchids, more than 800 species of these exotic flowers can be seen here; about 500 species of hibiscus, the national flower of Malaysia, are also represented in the botanical garden. Visitors to the garden can take a walk along the alleys and paths of the park, take a break from the bustle of the city amidst lush tropical vegetation, ride a water bike on the lake, have a picnic and have fun with children in a large playground. Visitors who want to look into every corner of the garden can take a ride tram or rent a bicycle.
