Flagler Museum
USA, Florida

The Flagler Museum is a historic house museum located in Palm Beach, Florida, dedicated to preserving the Gilded Age legacy of Henry Morrison Flagler. The museum is housed in Whitehall, a 55-room Beaux-Arts style estate that was constructed in 1902 as a wedding gift for Flagler's third wife, Mary Lily Kenan. Henry Flagler was a pivotal industrialist and co-founder of Standard Oil, whose development of the Florida East Coast Railway was instrumental in transforming Florida into a major tourist destination and economic hub. The estate served as the Flagler family's winter home until his death in 1913. Whitehall was subsequently saved from demolition and opened as a museum in 1960. Today, the museum showcases an extensive collection of original furnishings, art, and personal artifacts belonging to the Flagler family, offering a comprehensive view of the opulent lifestyle and significant business ventures of the era. It is recognized as a National Historic Landmark for its architectural and historical importance. The museum also hosts various cultural and educational programs throughout the year.
