Negara Zoo (National Zoo of Malaysia) is located in Ampang, 20 kilometers from the center of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The Negar Zoo officially opened on November 14, 1963. It is managed by the Zoological Society of Malaysia and is a member of the SEAZA Zoo Association. The zoo almost immediately became one of the main attractions of Kuala Lumpur, just three years after the opening, it received its millionth visitor, and since 1986 more than a million people visit it annually. The zoo covers an area of 110 acres, which is home to 5137 animals from different parts of the world (476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish). Spacious enclosures have been built for animals in the zoo and conditions have been created that are as close as possible to their natural habitat. The enclosure with Big Pandas is very popular among visitors, in which there are constantly crowded people who want to see a pair of bamboo bears - natives of the Chinese province of Sichuan. In the Reptile Park you can see turtles, lizards, crocodiles, a reticulated python, a green anaconda and the most poisonous snakes on the planet. Three Malaysian elephants live in the elephant pavilion, who eagerly communicate with visitors to the zoo and take pleasure from their hands for treats - sugarcane and bananas. The Savannah theme zone will take guests to the zoo to Africa, here you can see white rhinos, ostriches, zebras, antelopes and giraffes. Terrible predators live in the zoo - lions, leopards, cougars and Bengal tigers. In the center of the zoo there is a large lake, which is home to hundreds of waterfowl - storks, ibises, flamingos, herons, swans and pelicans, in the spacious enclosures you can see rhinoceros, owls, macaws, cockatoos and many other exotic birds. The aquarium of the zoo offers to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the deep sea, rivers, mangroves and wetlands of Malaysia. In the Center of the Apes, located at the highest point of the zoo, among lush tropical vegetation live chimpanzees, orangutans, long-tailed macaques, gibbons, langurs, who love to pose and take pictures with visitors. In 2009, the Butterfly Garden was opened at the zoo, in which more than 200 species of insects and spiders from around the world are represented. Children can visit the Detsky Mir theme zone, where you can feed rabbits, ducks, chickens, parrots and guinea pigs. Here there is a mini-tropical forest, an aviary, a pond, a stable, a playground and a cave in which the skulls of primates and animal skeletons are “hidden”. Also in the zoo live hippos, Malayan solar bear (Biruang), Asian black and brown bears, Malayan tapirs, camels, deer, kangaroos, Malay palm marten, Humboldt penguins, bats and many others. In total, the zoo has 16 thematic sites, a walking tram runs around the territory, there are recreation areas, a restaurant, a cafe, a souvenir shop, animal shows are held, tours are conducted, educational programs for children and adults are developed.
