Hydropolis is a project of a unique underwater hotel Hydropolis in the Persian Gulf of the Emirate of Dubai, UAE. It was assumed that the hotel would be built off the coast of Jumeirah at a depth of about 20 m, with part of the structure rising above the water. Above the water there should be staff quarters, a laboratory for deep sea research, a conference room, a parking lot and even a plastic surgery room.
The entire underwater structure will resemble a huge jellyfish and will house 220 luxury apartments. Through the huge windows, guests will be able to observe the amazing underwater world, and such “showcases” are supposed to be placed not only in the bedrooms, but also in the bathrooms. The area of the underwater complex will be 75,000 square meters. m.
They plan to deliver guests to their vacation spot by high-speed, silent train through an underwater tunnel 515 meters long from a land station located on the shore.
Transparent domes located above the surface of the water will be illuminated at night by huge colored spotlights, and during the day artificial clouds generated by a special mechanism will protect guests of Hydropolis from the scorching rays of the sun.
Professor Roland Dieterle's project was conceived in 2006, delayed in 2008, and as of June 2010 the planned construction had not occurred.
