Morachnik Monastery

The Morachnik Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastic complex situated on the island of Moracnik in Lake Skadar, near Virpazar. It is one of several island monasteries on the lake with significant historical and religious importance. The monastery is believed to have been founded in the 15th century, with its church dedicated to the Holy Mother of God. Throughout its history, the monastery served as a spiritual and cultural center, as well as a scriptorium where religious manuscripts were copied and preserved. The complex has endured periods of abandonment and restoration. Its architecture is characteristic of the region, and it forms part of the cultural and historical heritage associated with the Zeta Metropolitanate.
