Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Brest is one of the largest churches in Belarus. The five-domed cathedral with a free-standing bell tower. It has two churches - the upper one in honor of the Resurrection of Christ and the lower one in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. About 5 thousand people can pray in them at the same time. The burial was laid on July 26, 1992, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. It was erected in memory of the fallen soldiers and received the name of the “temple-monument of the Great Victory.” At the Annunciation of 1995 in the lower church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the first service was held in the cathedral under construction. Being completed, it became the largest religious building in Brest. The Resurrection Cathedral was consecrated by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II on June 24, 2001.
By the decision of the Belarusian Republican Council on the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture on September 23, 2003, the cathedral was given the status of spiritual historical and cultural value of Belarus.
