Church Wank
Iran, Shatlyk town

Van Church, also called the Cathedral of St. Christ the Savior, is the most famous church in Iran, one of the oldest churches in Esfahan. The church is located in the Jolfa area, the date of its construction is unknown. Historians believe that earlier on this site was the Anahita Temple. Shah Abbas restored the church with donations from the Armenian people in 1605. While in the church, the visitor’s eyes reveal numerous inscriptions on the walls and vaults of the church, painted by majestic people in various historical periods. Church painting depicting the funeral of Jesus, painted by Iranian icon painters, is unique in its style of execution. Everyone here can track the passage of time.
