The Jurmala City Museum was founded in 1962, its exposition acquaints visitors with the history of the development of the resort city of Jurmala from the beginning of the XIX century to the present day. The museum's collection has about 50 thousand exhibits related to the life of the resort. The museum presents the largest collection of bathing suits in Latvia, old postcards depicting Jurmala, works by local artists, finds raised from the seabed. The permanent exhibition "Ships in the Deep" tells about the history of shipping in Latvia, introduces the types of merchant schooners, warships and submarines. The exposition "The history of the resorts of Riga Jurmala and Kemeri" is dedicated to the development of resort activities, the life of citizens and vacationers in one of the most popular resorts in Latvia. The exhibition introduces the development of the spa industry, the balneological resources of the Kemeri resort, and the health and healing properties of the Jurmala coast. Visitors can also see photographs of old city buildings, some of which have not survived to this day, find out in what outfits fashionistas from the 19th century went, about music festivals and concerts held in the city, about the life of summer residents, see interior and household items. The collection of swimwear presented at the museum has 39 types of these beach suits, from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Many bathing suits were donated to the museum by the residents of the city, the collection is constantly updated and updated. The museum has a cozy cafe, creative studios work, master classes, presentations and conferences are held, educational programs for adults and children are developed.
