Buda Castle is a district of old Buda, surrounded by walls, a historic castle and the residence of Hungarian kings in Budapest. In 1987, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The fortress of Ortahisar, similar to the Uchisar, is carved in the rock. The rock as a fortress was used in Roman times. In 2004, due to the threat of a collapse, the fortress was closed for restoration and reopened to visitors in 2013.
The fortress is built on a rocky base and rises above the city at an altitude of about 120 meters. The construction of the fortress began in 1077, in the XVI century it was significantly expanded and rebuilt.
