Banteay Srei Temple was consecrated in 967. It was the only significant temple at Angkor built not by the monarch Rajendravarman, but by his court advisor, scholar and philanthropist named Yajnavaraha.
Phnom Bakheng was built about two centuries before Angkor Wat. This is a Hindu temple-mountain dedicated to Shiva. Historians suggest that at one time Bakheng was the main temple in the Angkor area.
