Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raiteno for his beloved Salome Alt. In 1690, the magnificent Mirabell landscaped garden, one of the most beautiful baroque gardens in Europe, was laid out in front of the palace.
The Salzach River divides the Old City of Salzburg into two parts - right and left. The UNESCO World Heritage List includes the left side of the Old Town, also known as the Quay Quarter, with the Hohensalzburg Fortress and Mount Mönchsberg.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived in this house for eight years before moving to Vienna for permanent residence in 1781. On January 26, 1996, the Mozart residence was open to visitors, it housed the second Mozart Museum in Salzburg.
