Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai Receives Verified Silver Bamboo Badge from Tuu Eco Stay Awards
Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai has been awarded the Verified Silver Bamboo Badge by the data‑driven Tuu Eco Stay Awards, recognizing six consecutive months of verified sustainable performance.
The accolade highlights the resort’s dedication to embedding sustainability into everyday operations, from ultra‑low energy consumption to innovative plant‑based cuisine and rigorous food‑waste reduction.
“Sustainability means making measurable improvements every day, being accountable, and ensuring every choice reflects our commitment to guests and the planet,” said General Manager Sean Mosher. “Our chef’s garden provides fresh, organic produce directly to the kitchen, reducing food miles and supporting a plant‑forward menu.”
Key verified metrics include:
- Energy efficiency: average consumption of 17.9 kWh per square metre, well below industry benchmarks, achieved through smart systems and upgrades.
- Plant‑based options: 45‑54 % of menu items are vegetarian or vegan, inspired by produce from the on‑site garden.
- Food waste: only 0.18 kg of waste per square metre, thanks to portion control, menu planning and composting.
The resort submitted six months of data across Energy, Water, Food, Waste and Human Resources, which were audited by HLB International and measured against GSTC, UNEP and ILO standards.
Tuu founder Terry Blackburn noted that the resort demonstrates how environmental stewardship can enhance guest experience, mentioning activities such as rice planting and natural tie‑dye workshops.
Properties that pass the verification receive a public Eco Profile and are listed on a blockchain‑based registry, gaining access to 30 independently judged Eco Stay Awards across four categories.
More than 20 hotels across Asia, North Africa and the Middle East are participating, positioning the Tuu Eco Stay Awards as a leading benchmark for data‑driven sustainability in hospitality.
