Skopje airport cancels 20 flights

Heavy fog over Skopje has reduced visibility at Skopje International Airport, prompting the cancellation of 20 scheduled flights and the rerouting of one flight as of 12:00 noon on Sunday.

Flights arriving from Dortmund and Vienna touched down after 11:00 a.m., while a flight to Hamburg is expected to depart, according to a press release from TAV Macedonia.

The M‑NAV Meteo Service forecasts continued low visibility for the remainder of the day and tomorrow.

TAV Macedonia emphasized that the airport remains operational; it is closed only by a specific decision and NOTAM in exceptional circumstances when essential services are unavailable or in a general emergency.

All airport facilities are functional, and pilots decide whether to land or divert based on the minimum visibility limits set by their airlines.

By 6 p.m. on Saturday, TAV Macedonia reported that 16 flights had been cancelled and 11 rerouted. Weather conditions improved after noon, allowing three arrivals and three departures.
