Sun International returns to Botswana

Sun International has returned to Botswana.


The hotel and gaming company owns a 40% stake in Peermont Global Botswana (PGB), subject to certain conditions set by the Competition and Consumer Authority (CCA).


The South African giant will acquire properties such as the Grand Palm and Peermont Mondior in Gaborone, as well as the Peermont Metcourt Hotel & Sedibeng Casino in Francistown.

Airlink will connect Cape Town to Gaborone

Airlink is expanding its network to include direct flights from Cape Town to Gaborone from 1 April 2025.


Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and Cape Town International Airport (CPT). Sir Seretse Khama (GBE) on the following schedule:


Flight 4Z 364 departs CPT at 10:50 and arrives GBE at 13:00.

Air Botswana opens new routes to South Africa

Air Botswana has announced details of the upcoming expansion of its core route network following the addition of three new 50-seat Embraer aircraft to its fleet.


The airline has announced that it will be adding and reinstating destinations to its network, connecting Botswana with other destinations in neighboring countries, including South Africa.

Okavango Delta gets new luxury camp

Machaba Safaris will open a new luxury tented camp Monachira in the north-eastern part of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta in May 2025.


The new camp, located on the banks of the Monachira canal, will consist of eight luxury double tents and two two-bedroom family tents.

Major hotel expansion in Botswana

South African hotel management group Cresta Hotels has opened a new wing with 60 new rooms to the Mahalapye Cresta Hotel. The property is strategically located along the A1 highway, approximately 180 km from Gaborone.
