Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has launched the fifth edition of its START student mentorship program, now accepting applications for 2026. The initiative, named START: A Student Artist Immersion, aims to support and uplift the next generation of local artists on Maui.
Applications are open until May 31, 2026, for high school juniors and seniors residing on Maui. Created in collaboration with art consultant Rosina Potter, the program underscores the Resort's dedication to arts education and community involvement.
Two selected students will take part in a multi-week experience, including:
- A weekly spot in the Artists Showcase for three weeks during the summer of 2026, where they will exhibit their work alongside renowned island artists at Four Seasons Resort Maui;
- A professional artist mentor, matched based on complementary style or medium;
- A one-on-one lunch at Ferraro's restaurant or a studio visit with the mentor;
- A mentorship session with Rosina Potter;
- A USD 3,000 scholarship to support continued education in the arts.
Participants will present their creations to collectors, guests, and the local community. “Programs like START are essential in sustaining a vibrant arts ecosystem,” says Potter. “It's more important than ever to create meaningful opportunities for young artists to connect with mentors, develop their practice, and envision a future in the arts.”
To apply, students must email the following to [email protected] by May 31, 2026:
- Images of five completed works (in .jpg or .pdf format);
- A brief artist statement for each piece;
- A short essay (under 500 words) describing their interest in pursuing the arts after high school;
- Availability for summer evenings and weekends to showcase at the Resort.
The recipients will be announced on June 10, 2026.
