Located in the crystal‑clear waters of North Malé Atoll, Eri Maldives is encircled by a vibrant house reef that impresses both novice snorkelers and experienced divers. Four convenient reef entry points and shore‑side access allow guests to explore the underwater world by snorkeling, introductory dives or advanced excursions.
The reef hosts a rich assortment of marine life. Regular sightings feature white‑tip and black‑tip reef sharks, nurse sharks, hawksbill turtles, mobula and spotted eagle rays, as well as large schools of reef fish. Because the reef is easily reachable, divers can return for multi‑day trips, observing behaviours, habitats and individual animals over time rather than in a single encounter.
Hawksbill turtles are a constant presence on the reef. To date, the dive team has identified fourteen individuals, each distinguished by unique shell patterns and markings. Familiar turtles such as Rosie, Cara and Anna are recognized by their characteristic carapace designs, pale scutes or barnacle‑covered shells. These turtles follow regular routes, becoming part of the reef community and offering returning guests the chance to recognize and even name new turtles they encounter.
From December to April, manta rays regularly visit the cleaning stations at Bodu Hithi Thila, about an hour’s boat ride from the resort. Seasonal currents rich in plankton draw the mantas to the area, where they can be seen feeding near the surface or gliding through the cleaning sites, providing optimal conditions for observing these graceful animals.
Nighttime snorkeling and diving reveal a different side of the reef. As darkness falls, predators such as reef sharks, trevallies, moray eels and nurse sharks become more active, allowing divers to witness nocturnal hunting behaviour rarely seen by day. The reef offers a continuous series of memorable moments—from resident turtles and seasonal mantas to the subtle drama of night dives—encouraging repeat visits.
Accommodation options include Studios from £179 per night and Beach Villas from £241 per night on a full‑board basis, with a current 40 % discount for direct bookings, subject to availability.
