Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo invites guests to discover one of the planet’s most biologically diverse areas through carefully designed nature‑focused programmes that blend exploration, relaxation and shared moments.
From May to August 2026 the region reaches its ecological peak. The 1,400‑acre (570‑ha) protected tropical dry forest surrounding the resort becomes a lush backdrop for wildlife observation, conservation‑led tours and immersive encounters with the natural world.
“Our guests can both admire the spectacular biodiversity and take part in its preservation,” says Brent Martin, General Manager. “Guided by our Papagayo Explorers, visitors gain a deeper appreciation for the environment while we safeguard it for future generations.”
The peninsula hosts hundreds of species on land and sea. Over 150 bird species, including turquoise‑browed motmots and elegant trogons, share the forest with howler monkeys, iguanas and other native fauna.
Summer is prime time for spotting humpback whales, which migrate to the warm coastal waters from late July through autumn, offering spectacular breaching displays and melodic songs.
Bird‑watchers can join a naturalist‑led expedition to catalogue as many primates as possible on the “Looking For Monkeys” tour.
Explorers may paddle through the “Magical Mangroves,” a dense network of roots that shelters a remarkable concentration of wildlife, using an outrigger canoe or water bike.
Beyond the waterways lies Palmares, an untamed wilderness accessible only with experienced guides. The area is home to a broad range of species, and on rare occasions, an elusive big cat may be glimpsed.
The green season offers privacy, wellness and a chance for couples to reconnect. The “Perfect Day for Two” itinerary blends adventure, spa experiences and intimate moments, set against warm sunsets and secluded beaches—ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries and romantic retreats.
The newly opened Papagayo Park expands the resort’s family offerings with padel clinics, a pump track, splash pad and water slides for children of all ages. Families can combine active days outdoors with relaxation at the beach, pools and wellness areas.
Spacious villas and multi‑bedroom residences provide seamless indoor‑outdoor living, allowing families to create shared memories while enjoying privacy and comfort.
