Albania’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, held talks with North Macedonia’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Zoran Ljutkov, during the 2026 ITB Berlin trade fair.
The two officials focused on expanding joint initiatives in tourism and culture, with particular attention to coordinated marketing campaigns targeting Germany and the broader European market.
Discussion also covered the possibility of introducing water‑based tourist transport on Lake Ohrid and improving the handling of visitor flows at border crossings during peak periods.
Both ministers emphasized the need to boost cultural exchange through cross‑border projects in the Ohrid region, aiming at sustainable management and promotion of its UNESCO heritage sites.
Gonxhja described the meeting as a constructive dialogue that reinforces the shared commitment to develop integrated regional destinations and raise the competitiveness of the area’s tourism offer on the global stage.
At the fair, Albania is presented as an authentic Mediterranean destination, and the minister engaged in several meetings with leading partners from international tourism and aviation sectors.
