On 20 March 2026, Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg will welcome guests for an exclusive dinner featuring the wines of Atlas Swift, a boutique South African producer renowned for its terroir‑driven approach.
Martin and Welma Smith, the husband‑and‑wife team behind Atlas Swift, cultivate a single grape variety in five distinct Cape regions. Each parcel yields a wine that expresses the unique soil, climate and maritime influences of its origin, creating a collection where the same varietal tells five different stories.
The centerpiece of the evening is the celebrated Chardonnay series, which showcases the same grape from five Cape terroirs. While the full range includes all five wines, a curated selection will be served during the dinner.
Executive Chef Rudi Liebenberg, formerly of The Mount Nelson and The Saxon, has crafted a multi‑course menu to complement the wines: starter of crayfish, duck with truffle, lamb loin en croute with slow‑braised shin and sweetbreads, and a mature cheddar verrine to finish.
Welma Smith will be present at the table to guide guests through the tasting, answer questions and share insights about the winemaking process.
“Johannesburg has a strong appetite for fine food and wine,” says Welma Smith. “Pairing our Cape wines with Chef Rudi’s cuisine feels like a natural meeting of two crafts that value quality, hospitality and the joy of the table.”
The experience is priced at ZAR 1 750 per person, inclusive of gratuity.
