Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia discuss accelerating tourism reforms and joint promotion

Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nasiha Pozder, met in Sarajevo with Croatia’s Minister of Tourism and Sport, Tonči Glavina.

The talks took place after the launch of the regional tourism magazine “Like”, a collaborative project of Jutarnji list (Croatia), Delo (Slovenia), Blic (Serbia) and Oslobođenje (Bosnia and Herzegovina), according to the official website of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Pozder pointed out the current challenges in the tourism sector, emphasizing the need to speed up the legislative process. She noted that Croatia already possesses high‑quality regulatory solutions, while the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina must adopt comparable rules promptly; the line ministry has completed its part and now awaits feedback from other institutions.

Minister Glavina highlighted the strong cooperation between the two countries and mentioned that tourists who visit Croatia are also eager to explore destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pozder also stressed the importance of improving railway transport, particularly the Una railway line that links the two states, and of addressing border congestion that affects tourists and residents during the peak season.

At the magazine promotion event, besides the ministers, speakers included Sarajevo Deputy Mayor Predrag Puharić, Oslobođenje editor‑in‑chief Vildana Selimbegović, Jutarnji list editor‑in‑chief Goran Ogurlić, and Delo director Dejan Novaković.

“Our destinations share language, culture, gastronomy and tradition, which will enable more joint tourism promotion projects in the future. The magazine ‘Like’ demonstrates how barriers can be removed to strengthen sustainable tourism. I am proud of Oslobođenje’s reputation and its ambition to remain a key media voice. In recent years, our ministry has been implementing a program to support tourism promotion through media and organisations, and I expect that this year we will continue to work with partners to ensure resilient, sustainable growth of our tourism sector,” Minister Pozder said, according to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
