From 17 to 23 February 2026 the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) carried out an intensive promotional tour across the Iberian Peninsula, aiming to reinforce the island’s visibility in key European travel markets and to deepen ties with industry partners.
Spanish roadshow – four cities
The Spanish segment, organised by charter operator W2M, comprised presentations in Sevilla, Malaga, Valencia and Alicante. W2M will operate weekly direct charter flights between Madrid and Mauritius from July to September 2026, providing a new gateway for Spanish tourists.
Each stop gathered a substantial number of travel agents and tour operators eager to learn about Mauritius’ natural scenery, cultural richness, hospitality standards and the wide range of experiences on offer – from adventure and wellness to gastronomy and luxury accommodation.
Portuguese roadshow – Porto and Lisbon
In Portugal, MTPA participated in the Solférias Roadshow held in Porto and Lisbon. Approximately 300 travel professionals attended, discovering Mauritius’ pristine beaches, world‑class hotels and authentic cultural and nature‑based activities.
Outlook
The participation in these events underlines Mauritius’ commitment to the Iberian market. With the upcoming direct charter service from Madrid and a growing interest among Portuguese travellers, the island is well positioned to attract more visitors seeking meaningful and high‑quality holiday experiences. MTPA will continue to work closely with airlines, tour operators and travel agents to keep Mauritius top‑of‑mind for European tourists.
