Bosnia and Montenegro to host digital nomads under EU‑funded residency program

Thanks to EU financing, the STAR initiative, which aims to boost tourism and draw digital nomads to rural border regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, is now accepting applications for its Digital Nomad Residency Programme. The programme will run from 15 April to 15 May 2026 and is coordinated by Intera Technology Park.

It offers a one‑month, curated work‑and‑travel experience centred on rural tourism. Participants will be hosted by local tourism operators in villages and small towns, following a schedule that mixes remote work with cultural activities, nature outings and community engagement.

The STAR project seeks to create sustainable tourism growth by preparing tourism businesses, designing a cross‑border product for digital nomads and raising awareness of the region’s potential among both travelers and service providers.

During the month, participants will move between several locations in both countries, including Podgorica, Mojkovac, Kolašin, Šavnik, Žabljak, Plužine, Nikšić, Herceg Novi, Kotor, as well as Ravno, Stolac, Čapljina (Hutovo Blato), Ljubuški, Mostar and Grude.

All major expenses – transport, local travel, accommodation, meals and planned activities – are covered by the project’s budget.

Selection will focus on candidates who have an active presence in the digital‑nomad community, demonstrable reach and quality of content on social media, and who are ready to travel extensively across the region. A valid driver’s licence and willingness to drive are required.

Chosen nomads are expected to document their stay with high‑quality visual and written content, take part in meet‑ups as speakers, and provide agreed‑upon promotional material for the programme and its partners.

Applications can be submitted via the provided form until 11 March 2026. The project is co‑financed by the European Union under the IPA III CBC Programme for Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro (2021‑2027).
