Tourism in North Macedonia rises on robust foreign demand

According to the State Statistical Office, the total number of visitors to North Macedonia grew by 6 % in the 2025 calendar year compared with 2024. The increase was driven by foreign tourists, whose arrivals rose by 10.3 %, while domestic visitor numbers fell by 2.2 %.


Overall overnight stays in the country also saw a modest rise of 0.8 % over the same period.


Breaking down the overnight figures, stays by residents declined by 4.1 %, whereas foreign guests extended their stays by 6.4 %.


In December 2025, foreign tourists accounted for 63.3 % of all visitors, with Macedonians representing the remaining 36.7 %.


That month, a total of 112,001 overnight stays were recorded; 42.4 % were by domestic travelers and 57.6 % by international guests.
