The luxury resort Angsana Velavaru has been awarded the title of Best Foreign Hotel by the Russian Traveler Awards for 2025. The distinction, presented by the Russian Traveler magazine (formerly National Geographic Russia), celebrates outstanding achievements across the travel sector, from accommodation to cuisine and eco‑tourism.
All entries are examined by a strict moderation process, and the final winners are chosen by the magazine’s readership—travelers known for their discerning taste. The results were announced on 8 December during a ceremony held in Moscow.
Angsana Velavaru is situated in the pristine South Nilandhe Atoll, within a secluded private lagoon. The resort is reachable by a scenic 40‑minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport in Malé.
Guests can stay in beachfront island villas with direct sand access or in the resort’s signature InOcean overwater villas, located about one kilometre from the main island. These villas are available in two‑ and three‑bedroom layouts, feature private pools, and offer generous indoor and outdoor living spaces.
