Travel Advisories – Mauritius Remains a Safe Destination for Visitors

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade has taken note of recent travel advisories issued by Canada, the Russian Federation and the United States concerning security measures that tourists should observe when visiting Mauritius.

The ministry wishes to assure travelers that Mauritius continues to be a safe destination, as reflected by the 1,008,098 tourists who visited the country from January to September 2025.

According to the latest data, the number of theft incidents recorded between January and 27 December 2025 involving foreign nationals is negligible. These incidents are isolated, non‑violent and opportunistic, showing no signs of organized or systemic threats to visitors.

Mauritius enjoys a strong reputation for safety and tranquility, comparable to other leading island destinations in the Indian Ocean.

The Government of Mauritius places the highest priority on protecting both Mauritian and foreign nationals and remains committed to proactive measures that ensure the safety and security of all tourists.
