Moldova sets new aviation record

The Eugen Doga International Airport in Chisinau celebrated a significant milestone in 2025, welcoming its 6 millionth passenger. The occasion was marked by a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea.

The record‑setting traveler arrived on a Flydubai flight from Dubai and was formally presented with a commemorative award by airport officials and partner organisations, according to CE Report.

Authorities highlighted that passenger numbers have risen by 47 % compared with 2024, establishing a new all‑time high for civil aviation in Moldova.

Vladimir Bolea stressed that this achievement reflects the positive outcomes of recent investments in airport facilities, describing the airport as more modern, better connected and increasingly attractive for airlines and travellers.

Continued growth is attributed to upgraded infrastructure, an expanded route network and stronger cooperation with international carriers, which together boost the airport’s role as the country’s main air hub and support mobility, tourism and the national economy.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development congratulated the airport management, airlines and aviation professionals for their contribution to safe, efficient and passenger‑focused air transport.
