Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff in Johannesburg has officially opened its new Destination Lobby and Lobby Lounge, marking the final stage of a multi‑year refurbishment that began in 2023. The project, backed by a US$25 million investment, was carried out in partnership with owners ASB Hospitality and Hotel Properties Limited.
The new spaces are intended to serve as the city’s largest luxury events venue and a vibrant gathering place for both hotel guests and the wider Johannesburg community. Martin Cody, Regional Vice President and General Manager, described the development as a redefinition of luxury hospitality in the city.
The Destination Lobby offers sweeping views of Forest Town, Saxonwold and Rosebank. It integrates a 40‑seat Lobby Lounge that provides all‑day dining, a casual bar by day and a signature cocktail lounge by night, and an expansive veranda that transitions smoothly from morning meetings to evening aperitifs.
Design elements reference Johannesburg’s mining heritage, featuring metallic finishes, natural stone and textured surfaces that blend local character with contemporary elegance.
Operational upgrades include a larger check‑in area, a 100‑bay underground parking facility, direct connections to the Flames restaurant and Four Seasons Spa, and a dedicated entrance for the Grand Ballroom – the city’s largest luxury event space with a capacity of up to 400 guests.
During December, the hotel will showcase a festive programme: a five‑course Christmas Eve dinner, a Christmas Day buffet featuring sushi, oysters, carvery and braai stations, an intimate Christmas Day dinner, a special Festive Afternoon Tea (15‑31 December) with South African flavours, and a New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner in the Grand Ballroom.
The opening of the Destination Lobby and Lobby Lounge represents the culmination of a two‑year transformation, positioning Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff as Johannesburg’s premier luxury destination.
