Minor Hotels, the global hotel owner and operator, has signed a development agreement for a new Anantara property in Ushuaia, Argentina. The Anantara Ushuaia Patagonia Resort, scheduled to open in early 2028, will be situated in the Costa Susana master‑plan, close to Tierra del Fuego National Park.
The waterfront resort will comprise 60 upscale guest rooms and suites, a sea‑level spa and wellness centre, signature dining venues, and meeting facilities. Designed to deliver Anantara’s experience‑driven luxury, the hotel will integrate local culture and nature while adhering to strict sustainability standards.
The project has been selected for the Landscape and Environment category of the World Architecture Festival, marking Argentina’s first nomination in this field. It is also slated to become the country’s inaugural carbon‑neutral development.
The management contract is held with Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana, an Argentine development group with more than two decades of experience in the Ushuaia region.
“Ushuaia, often described as the ‘End of the World,’ offers a gateway to Antarctica and a unique wilderness experience,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International. “Introducing Anantara to South America aligns with our growth strategy, and we are excited to bring the brand to such a remote and spectacular location.”
Gonzalo Aguilar, CEO of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, added that the resort will set a benchmark for sustainable, immersive hospitality at the edge of the continent.
Melitón González del Solar, spokesperson for Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana, highlighted the partnership’s shared commitment to environmental protection and community development, aiming to create a leading green hotel in the region.
The resort will be conveniently located a short drive from Ushuaia International Airport, providing easy connections to Buenos Aires and other domestic destinations. Guests will have direct access to attractions such as ski resorts, the historic End of the World Train, luxury cruises to Antarctica, and the pristine landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park.
