Greenland is expanding its tourism links with North America after taking part in the recent Nordics North American Roadshow, a long‑standing joint initiative of the seven Nordic nations that aims to connect destinations with key travel‑industry partners across the continent.

The 2025 roadshow visited Seattle, Toronto and New York, where representatives from the Nordic region met travel professionals and agents to share knowledge, forge partnerships and discuss future collaboration opportunities.

Anne Nivíka Grødem, chief executive of Visit Greenland, explained that growing accessibility from North America creates a chance to develop the market for adventure‑seeking visitors attracted to Greenland. She highlighted that tour operators can now engage directly with existing and prospective partners, hear their aspirations, obtain feedback from the current season and gain first‑hand market insights.

Greenland’s delegation included Travel By Heart, Greenland Travel, Hotel Aurora and DMC Nordic Greenland, combining seasoned exhibitors with newcomers eager to broaden contacts and showcase the country’s expanding tourism potential.

The event was the first major trade gathering in North America since direct Newark‑Nuuk flights began in June 2025. Air connectivity is set to improve further, as United Airlines plans to resume service to Greenland in 2026, reinforcing links between North America and the Arctic nation.

Participation at the roadshow demonstrated rising interest in Greenland, with buyers ranging from large travel agencies to specialist operators keen to explore sustainable tourism opportunities.

Klaus Dupont Iversen, manager of Hotel Aurora, reported strong interest from agents already familiar with Greenland, noting that discussions resulted in more concrete agreements than in previous years. He added that the new direct New York route has clearly heightened interest and opened fresh opportunities in the North American market.

Greenland thanked its Nordic partners for continued cooperation and a shared commitment to responsible tourism development throughout the region.
