During the World Tourism Day event in Krushevo, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov outlined the country's ambition to evolve into a key tourism gateway for the Balkans. He highlighted that from January to July 2025, the nation welcomed 730,793 visitors, marking a 10.2 % rise compared with the same period last year. International arrivals grew even faster, up 15.1 %, while the total number of overnight stays reached 1,750,979, a 5.5 % increase.

The minister noted that tourists from Turkey, Serbia, Poland and the Netherlands are among the most prominent source markets. He attributed the positive trend to active promotional campaigns and improvements in the country's tourist image.

North Macedonia’s geographic position at the intersection of European transport corridors 8 and 10 gives it a natural advantage as a transit point. The strategy aims to convert pass‑through travelers into guests and, eventually, ambassadors of Macedonian culture, nature and cuisine.

The Krushevo gathering also showcased the town’s culinary specialties and its potential for mountain and alternative tourism, underlining the broader vision of sustainable tourism development across the country.
