Air Astana launches Atyrau–Baku route starting 31 May 2025

Air Astana has announced the launch of a new direct air service connecting Atyrau, located in western Kazakhstan, with Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The new route is scheduled to commence operations on 31 May 2025 and will operate three times per week, expanding the airline’s regional connectivity in the Caspian Sea area.

The service will be operated using Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, with a scheduled flight time of approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes outbound and 1 hour and 35 minutes on the return leg.

According to the schedule, flight KC277 will depart from Atyrau on Mondays and Saturdays at 18:30, arriving in Baku at 18:55, and on Wednesdays at 21:35, arriving at 22:00. The return flight KC278 will depart from Baku on Mondays and Saturdays at 19:55, arriving in Atyrau at 22:30, and on Wednesdays at 23:00, arriving at 01:35 the following day. All times are indicated in local time.

The introduction of this route adds to Air Astana’s existing Almaty–Baku connection, which operates three times weekly during the summer season. With the addition of Atyrau–Baku, Air Astana strengthens its network across Central Asia and the South Caucasus, offering more flexibility for travelers and businesses engaging in regional cooperation and trade.

Atyrau, a key industrial hub in western Kazakhstan, and Baku, a growing center for commerce and tourism in the Caucasus, are both strategically located on the Caspian Sea. This new air link is expected to enhance mobility and economic ties between the two countries and facilitate smoother travel for business travelers, diaspora communities, and tourists alike.

The route also aligns with broader efforts by regional carriers to diversify their networks and increase direct connectivity between secondary cities, reducing the reliance on major hubs.

Tickets for the new route are available for booking through the airline’s official website and mobile app. The expansion further positions Air Astana as a regional player in connecting Central Asia with key neighboring markets.
