StarCruises launches themed weekend voyages from Keelung this summer

StarCruises introduces 3-day themed High Seas cruises from Keelung, offering rotating cultural and culinary experiences aboard Star Navigator.

The StarCruises brand has announced the launch of its newly reimagined 3-day, 2-night weekend cruise programme, sailing from Keelung aboard the Star Navigator. Operating under the theme Global Celebrations at Sea, the seasonal High Seas voyages will offer a rotating cultural and culinary focus, with no port stops and a full programme of onboard activities.

This summer, the cruises aim to attract regional travellers seeking short leisure breaks, particularly those interested in cultural and food experiences. The Star Navigator will highlight a different country or cultural theme on each sailing, beginning with Japan in April and followed by Korea in May.

The Japan-themed cruises, scheduled for 4 and 18 April, will feature Japanese cuisine and entertainment. Guests can expect sushi, tempura, and ramen, alongside performances such as Sakura-inspired dances. Cultural workshops will include Ikebana flower arranging, origami, and traditional tea experiences.

In May, sailings on 2, 16, and 30 will focus on Korean culture. The programme includes Korean dishes like Bulgogi and Bibimbap, live drum performances, K-pop dance sessions, and hanbok try-ons. The aim is to blend traditional and contemporary Korean elements in an accessible onboard setting.

A recurring feature of each weekend cruise is a Saturday night open-air BBQ, offering grilled dishes inspired by each week’s theme. These evenings are positioned as casual, social events on deck, allowing guests to enjoy food and sea views.

Michael Goh, President of StarCruises, stated that the High Seas cruise concept is designed to offer cultural variety without the complexity of land-based travel. The model allows for flexibility and short lead booking periods while aligning with the growing demand for short-haul leisure experiences in Asia.

StarCruises is targeting both domestic and regional source markets with these sailings, especially travellers looking for culturally engaging short breaks. The cruises also offer consistent departure and return schedules from Keelung, making them viable weekend getaway options.
