FlyNamibia has resumed flights from Windhoek to the coastal city of Lüderitz. Flights began on October 16.
The airline's managing director Andre Campion confirmed that the new route will operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday. Weekday flight WV541 departs Windhoek Eros Airport at 07:15 and arrives Lüderitz Airport at 08:05.
Return flight WV542 departs Lüderitz at 12:15 and arrives Windhoek at 13: 05.
The airline suspended flights to Lüderitz in January 2024, Namibian reports. This was due to security problems at Lüderitz Airport. According to the Namibia Airports Company, the airport experienced mechanical problems with a fire and rescue vehicle, but operations resumed shortly thereafter.
The route restoration was made possible through FlyNamibia's partnership with TotalEnergies.
The coastal desert town of Lüderitz is known for its German Art Nouveau architecture and interesting history of diamond exploration and mining.
