The first ever high-speed train Paris - Berlin

A new high-speed train will connect Paris and Berlin for the first time later this year, and bookings are now open.


The national rail operators of France and Germany, SNCP Voyageurs and Deutsche Bahn, have announced a new train service, which starts on December 16th. According to SNCP Voyageurs, this is the first time the two capitals will be connected by high-speed train.


The daily train will depart from Paris Gare de l'Est at 09:55 and arrive at Berlin Hbf at 18 :03. Trains from Berlin will depart at 11:54 and arrive in Paris at 19:55. The train reaches speeds of up to 320 km/h, and the trip takes about eight hours.


Current connections between cities take 9–10.5 hours.


Tickets cost 59 euros for second class and 69 euros for first class when bookings open on October 16.


Alain Krakovic, director of TGV-Intercités at SNCF Voyageurs, said the development demonstrates the participation of both countries in a common goals to reduce the carbon footprint of regional travel.
