For centuries, celestial earthquakes, a mysterious phenomenon, have puzzled experts around the world. These are typically loud, unexplained noises, often similar to sonic booms, thunder or explosions, which have been recorded in various places, including Japan, India and several US cities.

This phenomenon was first recorded in 1811 in New Madrid, Missouri, when local residents reported hearing strange sounds during a magnitude 7.2 earthquake. Since then, reports of such strange sounds have been reported all over the world, from the Adriatic Sea to Franklinville, New York, and Charleston, South Carolina. This phenomenon even caught the attention of famous author James Fenimore Cooper, who mentioned it in his short story “The Lake Gun.”


Despite numerous theories, the exact cause of celestial earthquakes remains unclear. Some researchers suggest meteorite impacts, changes in air pressure, seismic activity, or even the release of gas from lakes. Others believe military exercises or aircraft may be the cause. However, none of these theories provide a definitive explanation, leaving the mystery of skyquakes unsolved.


Although the exact cause of skyquakes remains unclear, their consequences are clear. They often cause confusion and fear in those who experience them. However, unlike earthquakes, which are accompanied by shaking of the ground and can lead to destruction, celestial earthquakes primarily leave a lasting impression of wonder and mystery, which makes them one of the strangest and most unsolved phenomena of nature.
