The 24th World Gourmet Festival, which will be held at Anantara Siam Bangkok from September 24 to 29, will once again bring together the best culinary experts under one tastefully furnished roof. Whether this is your first time rubbing shoulders with culinary stars or you're a seasoned chef yourself, the weeklong celebration of talent from around the world promises plenty of entertainment. Here are the top five reasons why this year's event should be on your calendar.
This year, festival-goers will bask in the light of 30 Michelin stars - a record for the festival. Bangkok will bring together 22 world-renowned Michelin-starred chefs, joined by a team of virtuoso bartenders, many of whom are Asian award winners and world's top 50 bar holders, who will put on their own show at the Aqua Bar every evening.
With a wide range of international cuisines and culinary styles on display, this event is a unique opportunity to sample expertly prepared dishes from Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia and beyond without leaving the center Bangkok. While the gala dinner is renowned for its eclectic approach, bringing together a variety of creative teams, the guest chef dinners at Anantara Siam's signature restaurants will focus on one master.
For many, the festival's main attraction is its focus on presenting food and experiences that are exclusive to the event and not available elsewhere. From tasting menus that won't be repeated to rare, seasonal ingredients with impeccable provenance, these culinary creations from top chefs are destined for stardom.
For the first time, the World Gourmet Festival will include an event on Loy Pela Voyages, Anantara's signature dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River. Heading up the kitchen will be Portuguese maestro Louis Anjos, Michelin-starred chef at Al Sud in Palmares, who will pair his bold creations with striking views of Bangkok's illuminated riverside attractions, including the iconic Wat Arun.
As in previous years, a portion of every dinner ticket sold, as well as proceeds from the gala auction, will be donated to the Rajavithi Girls Home Wellbeing Fund under the patronage of HRH Princess Soamsavali , helping to empower and inspire young people.
