Catamarans will soon offer boat excursions in Kashi, Ayodhya and Mathura

Uttar Pradesh is ready to venture into exciting water tourism in the state's most famous cities: Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi. In a bid to become the new water tourism hotspots, Uttar Pradesh will soon introduce modern open catamarans. Reports suggest that the move is likely to give a boost to the state's booming new tourism industry.

If reports are to be believed, the state has formally chalked out strategies to develop more water-based tourism sectors with the assistance of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). This partnership involves the delivery of six catamarans designed to enhance the tourist experience by offering them sightseeing river cruises at some of the most popular destinations in Uttar Pradesh. All the mentioned cities will receive two catamarans.

Currently, Ayodhya and Kashi have one catamaran each with a capacity of 50 passengers. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Corporation has also laid down certain requirements for catamarans to be used in the future, such as they must be open on all sides, have a deck, storage and toilets. These facilities will allow visitors to enjoy the beauty of the environment while enjoying a pleasant boat ride.

Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture of Uttar Pradesh has made plans for the dynamic growth of tourism in the state and added : “We are actively implementing various tourism projects, including rural tourism, agritourism and water sports. The potential for boating tourism in Uttar Pradesh is huge and these catamarans are just the starting point.” He also noted that last year, more than 480 million tourists visited various attractions in the state, including religious, spiritual and eco-tourism sites.

Apart from catamarans, IWAI recently brought electric boats to Prayagraj. This includes two mini-cruise ships, each accommodating 30 passengers, as well as six motorboats and two rescue boats. These vessels are expected to start operating after the monsoon season, offering even more options for water travel in the state.

The introduction of open catamarans and various water activities is a critical aspect of Uttara's strategy -Pradesh to provide a wide range of tourism experiences. As Jaiveer Singh noted, “Tourists from across India and the world will soon have even more opportunities to explore our state.” This initiative aims to not only attract more visitors but also enhance the overall tourism experience in Uttar Pradesh.
